Reim revels in Flora’s chances
Flora Tallinn coach Martin Reim is convinced his players can upset Swiss champions FC Basel when the two sides meet in a Champions League qualifier on Tuesday (Flora Tallinn 9/1 draw 17/4 FC Basel 2/7 – match prices bet365).
Lillekula Stadium, which hosted the Under-19 European Championship final between winners Spain and Greece on Sunday, will provide the setting for the Estonian title-winners but Reim is not interested in any shirt-swapping or star-gazing.
Last season, FC Basel showed top-flight pedigree when pipping Manchester United (12/1 Champions League outright – bet365) to the round of 16 but Reim said it would be wrong for Flora to stand back and admire the visitors.
Flora are four points behind Estonian league leaders JK Nomme Kalju after 18 games and have had some financial worries, so the game is the ideal distraction, says Reim.
“Our opponents are very strong, but we should gain a result which will leave us with chances to fight on in Switzerland,” he told Uefa.com.
“We need to prove we are worthy opponents. It’s not just about playing good football. It’s about decent results, it’s about the win. We will see if we have enough quality for that.”
