Former England striker Emile Heskey admits he cannot wait for the A-League season to start next month after signing for Newcastle Jets (14/1 – A-League 2012-13 outright with bet365).

Heskey told the Jets’ website: “This is an exciting new period in my life and I am looking forward to making a special contribution to the A-League and most importantly, to the Jets.
“I hope I can help grow football at the grassroots level and also provide advice to young players at the Jets.
“The season isn’t far away, so I will be in Newcastle soon, training with my new team-mates and be ready for kick off on October 7.”
Heskey’s international career garnered 62 caps for England and he was part of the squad as recently as the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Gheorghe Hagi has been appointed as the new boss of Turkish giants Galatasaray (9/1 with Stan James to win 2010-11 Turkish Super Lig), following the departure of Frank Rijkaard this week.
Former Romania (9/2 to win Euro 2012 Qualifying Group D) star Hagi has agreed a one-and-a-half year contract and is expected to be paraded in front of the media and supporters on Friday.
The appointment will be a popular one with the fans, as the 48-year-old enjoyed big success with the Istanbul outfit during his playing days.
Hagi was part of the Galatasaray team that won the UEFA Cup in 2000 and also had a short spell as manager during the 2004-05 campaign.
Former Rangers and Blackburn midfielder Tugay, another ex-Galatasaray player, will be announced as Hagi’s assistant.
Meanwhile, Rijkaard’s agent has suggested that the Dutchman is keen to get back into management as soon as possible, with a move to England a possibility.
With mounting pressure on Roy Hodgson, the former Barcelona coach has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool (10/1 to win Europa League).
Italian giants AC Milan have declared their interest in signing Manchester City (7/1 to win the Premier League with Stan James) winger Robinho.

Robinho looks set to leave Eastland’s and Milan (5/1 to win the Serie A title with Stan James) have been the latest club to put their name forward for the player signature.
The San Siro club have been targeting Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has become disillusioned at the Nou Camp however they could look to Robinho if they can’t get the deal with the Swedish striker completed according to Vice-president Adriano Galliani.
He said: “Robinho is the alternative to Ibrahimovic, but we want the Swedish striker.”
Milan official Ariedo Braida is believed to have flown to Manchester to discuss terms with City over a possible move for the 26-year-old.
Blues boss Roberto Mancini has said that he would not stand in Robinho’s way if he wished to leave Eastlands this summer with keeper Shay Given and Roque Santa Cruz given the same option.
