Sporting Bet
Sporting Bet is a UK-based company which was set up to take advantage of the rise in online gaming. It was founded in 1998. The company has grown considerably since its inception and now boasts over 2.5million registered customers in over 200 countries. Over one million bets are placed with the company per day.
In October 2004, Sporting Bet acquired Paradise Poker so its poker division is particularly strong. In 2007, all Paradise Poker customers were migrated over to Sportingbet Poker platform but the name Paradise Poker was retained. Unsurprisingly, poker is one of the strengths of the company and they now run Poker Tours across Europe.
Sporting Bet is also committed to sports betting and sponsors a number of high profile clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Slavia Sofia and Steaua Bucharest – and Hull KR in Super League. This means special offers are often available in conjunction with these clubs.
The company offers an extensive range of football markets on leagues throughout the world. They also offer match betting on many of these competitions. Many of the major sports are well covered, with every UK and Ireland Horse Race available to bet on. There is also a decent selection of ante-post markets on a website that is extremely easy to navigate, as well as being pleasing on the eye.
The range of sports that Sporting Bet covers is reasonably strong, with staples vying with more niche selections to provide a full-range of betting opportunities. Futsal and European Basketball are two more unique markets that the company covers, particularly as Sporting Bet is the official sponsor for Euroleague Basketball. Politics and Reality TV options are also available.
Sporting Bet also has a comprehensive multiples section, which highlights the most popular match prices of the moment. This can work in conjunction with their excellent in-play service, which comes in Flash and non-Flash versions. The markets on in-play are extensive, with popular sports again vying with the more obscure. The in-play service is also one of the most easy to follow around.
Sporting Bet also has a scheme called Rewards, which rewards the customer for betting on their favourite sports. The system works like a supermarket loyalty card, or air miles, as points are accrued depending on the number of bets you place. This determines which prize you win at the end of the month.
The website also has an extensive range of Casino, Live Casino, Games, 1 v 1 and Backgammon options, whilst you can also subscribe to their Mobile Bet service. The website is translated into 23 different languages and there are two English-language portals, one for the UK and one for Canada.
Sporting Bet also offers one of the most comprehensive statistic services of any major bookie across a wide range of sports and markets. There are form guides, league tables and a variety of other facts and figures from competitions around the world which enables the customer to make more informed betting choices.
Sporting Bet is lacking a sports betting news portal but it does have a Cricket and a Summer of Racing microsite which contains competitions, promotions, race previews, stats, facts, scores and video. They also have a Racing Radio service which has live coverage of every UK horse and greyhound race, and a Sporting Bet Podcast which is released weekly. This contains previews and expert commentaries from the likes of Mick McCarthy, Steve Bull and Derby winning jockey John Reid. They also operate a Live Scores service.
